Encounter the Real Thailand in Osaka -
Jai-Thai

Of the countless ethnic restaurants around Shinsaibashi, it can be hard to know where to find an authentic tasting meal, but Jai-Thai's two restaurants have a splendid reputation among the local Thai population, and are run by the same boffins behind the Jai-Thai supermarkets, which import many Thai grocery items that cannot be found elsewhere.

At Jai-Thai, those magic ingredients give the chefs an edge. In the Sennichimae restaurant, the chefs are known for preparing off-menu requests to the many Thai regulars who gather there for a taste of home. The Minami-Semba branch caters to a wider crowd and has more of a cafe feel, but is no less proud of its more than 80 menu items, many of which are popular Thai dishes that are rarities in Japan. Each menu item has an explanation to help you enjoy your selection even more. Especially recommended for winter is the Thai Suki Set (\2,900) a scintilating blend of seasonal seafoods, vegetables, tofu and spices to warm the body.

Whether you have been to Thailand and want to recapture the gastromic ecstacies of your trip, or you want to gobble down a green curry for the first time, it would be hard to find a better place to do it than Jai-Thai.
