Eri Takayanagi: Recent works
Until 7/21
With this exhibition, Eri Takayanagi tries to
capture the feeling you have the moment you find something beautiful
in your daily life. Something that is in most senses ordinary but
nonetheless takes you by surprise and in some small way changes
the way you see the world. Attracting critical acclaim, she previously
concentrated on sculptures, covered in everything from bright primary
colours to artificial turf, but she's even more down-to-earth now.
Keeping even art itself at a distance she now focuses on creating
things close to the objects that fill our daily lives, using commonly
available materials. They look similar in many ways to the stuff
around us but their extraordinary beauty makes them stand out.

Dolls of Today:
Ideas of plastic arts
Until 6/29
The key to dolls appeal, whether as toys
or as animated theatrical puppets, is the way their lifeless form
can actually look so alive. Ironically, as their popularity as a
theatrical art form wanes, other kinds of artists, such as Yumeji
Takehisa, Hans Vermeer and Shimon Yotsuya are taking an interest
in them, with intriguing results. This exhibition takes a look at
a broad cross-section of dolls history with a fascinating
variety of exhibits..
