Junichi Nakahara Exhibition

Born in Kawaga Prefecture in 1913, Junichi Nakahara became one of the top leaders in the fashion in design industry in post war Japan. After entering Japan Arts School, his outstanding fashion sense and artistic abilities were picked up by a the owner of a top brand clothing shop and he became their top designer.

Other than work, he had a passion for dolls and in 1932, opened his first French Doll Exhibition. This lead him to work for a magazine called 'A Girls Friend' and his design and drawings were recognized by many as a great piece of work. His drawings were especially popular with younger girls and he became one of the most popular magazine artist of his time.

In 1939, he opened a small variety and clothing shop called 'Himawari' (Sunflower) which did extremely well and in the same year, his marriage to a top Takarazuka star made the headlines. As s a fashion designer, an artist, a lifestyle goods designer, his talent was widespread in many directions.
