Nudic Colony
Osakas newest nightclub
shows a bit of class. Welcome to Nudic.

Bar Nudic, which revealed itself to the public
last month, is showing its competitors the way forward. The club,
located in the heart of Shinsaibashi, just off Hachiman-dori (two
streets east of the arcade, to the right), is a revolution in terms
of space and interior. It is divided into three main rooms and the
bar area, and the deeper one progresses into its heart, the plusher
and more luxurious the setting becomes.
Nudic first opened their doors on Christmas Eve,
and since their Grand Opening on January 31st, their reputation
has been growing. It is, insists manager Allan Yray, still a work
in progress, but if this is the interim stage, the final result
promises to be spectacular. Around 450 patrons showed up for the
opening, and the club is undoubtedly a huge draw for the discerning
clubber. The space is subtler than its immediate competitors, and
maintains an air of exclusivity. Take the wrong elevator, and youll
find you cant get in at all. Only the elevator on the right
will get you to the 7th floor. Allan himself lends the space its
air of credibility, having over seven years of bar and managerial
experience in Osaka.
Weekends are, naturally, the main focus of Nudic.
They are focusing on House for the time being, and want to make
the shop the standard for the genre in Osaka. A stable of competent
DJs are at the helm, led by DJ Luke and the renowned Yoku, famous
throughout the region. Dimitri, another regular, will be familiar
with the Minami bar crowd as owner/DJ of Absinthe café. Allan
plans to make Nudic the stop-off point in Kansai for big international
names, and the way things are looking Nudic will soon be synonymous
with style and quality. Look out for flagship event, Smoke, on the
6th.
The
dance floor is substantial, and the effect is magnified by the pulsating,
and no doubt expensive, Bose sound system that surrounds it. Couches
and tables float around the periphery, but one of the unique aspects
of Nudic can be found further to the rear two chillout rooms
offer respite for those who cant dance no more. The outer
room offers couches and low tables, but it is the VIP area, right
at the back, which is truly remarkable. Thick carpet and an abundance
of cushions make this look like the kind of place youd keep
your harem, and the area fits in well with the general theme of
sexy music. The music in these rooms mirrors the dance floor, albeit
at a more muted volume.
Weekdays offer a respite from the party atmosphere
found at the weekends. Allan is looking more for a bar theme, and
the huge projector in the corner, in addition to the darts and foosball,
makes the whole of Nudic a place to chill. The music is a little
subtler too, with a more funk-inspired feel. There is a limited
menu (available throughout the week), which consists of pilafs,
curries and bar food. This will be extended in the near future,
but is substantial enough at the moment to keep your energy levels
up.
