The famous musical West Side Story was played in 1957 for the first time. Since then, it has been loved and performed all over the world. Joye Mckneely who is this stage director and choreographer brings us a 21st century version. He was a pupil of Jerome Robbins who was the director and choreographer of the original West Side Story and used to be a lead dancer in Jerome Robbins' Broadway. All the dancers were selected by him in strict and fair auditions conducted over a long period of time. In this musical, there are many energetic, passionate and difficult dance scenes. Ranarim - Stars of Swedish Folk

Sep 28

The Phoenix Hall, Osaka

Ranarim is a term jointing rana and rim in Swedish. ‘Rana' means beautiful wall hangings and tapestry; ‘rim' expresses dew in the morning. All the Swedish members formed this group in 1997. Their songs are set to traditional music from the region of birth of each performer. Despite being essentially traditional, the music has something of the flavour of modern pop. Ranarim is made up of two female vocalists, a guitarist (mandola player), a drummer, and a nyckelharpa player. The nyckelharpa - a Swedish stringed instrument - makes a symphonic sound. A huge window giving a view onto the evening adds to the atmosphere. A great way to relax after a working day.
