Troop cafe in Kobe welcomes two great producers from techno label Minus, the globally recognized Berlin imprint. Minimal king Richie Hawtin launched the label in 1998 to spread the beauty of simplicity, and the label’s name is evocative of the “less is more” concept. Unfortunately Hawtin cannot make it this time, but instead, queen of minimal Magda will represent the label and show its quality. The Berlin-based Polish-born DJ/producer has rapidly grown on the Minus label, and is now one of the most wanted female techno DJs. Along with Magda, Minus rising star Heartthrob (a.k.a Jesse Siminski), is set to perform one of his not-to-be-missed live sets. His delicate yet impressive techno tracks have become cornerstones of Richie Hawtin’s DJ sets, and even though his name doesn’t ring a bell as other Minus artists, you will probably recognize his tracks. If you are into sophisticated and simple techno, these two geniuses should throb your heart.

Progressive house DJ/producer Danny Howells will finally make it to Osaka for the first time. Danny started DJ-ing in the late ‘80s at the local clubs in Hastings, England. In 1991 the progressive house legend John Digweed heard one of his mix tapes and invited him to join the Bedrock parties as John’s warm up DJ. That helped Danny to become one of the biggest draws in progressive house in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. the subsequent touring was relentless, with countless mix CD releases such as Global Underground, Renaissance, and the Nocturnal Frequencies series on his own label. Production-wise, he works with Dick Trevor and vocalist Erire under the alias of Science Department, and the unit has released some significant singles and remixes. Danny has a unique and eclectic sound that has been described as (take a breath) “deepsexyfuturistic-techfunkhouse.” You can really sense his connection with the audience where ever he plays, which has helped him earn the label “The clubbers DJ”.
