The pioneering Berlin techno label marks its 10th birthday
 Berliner Ellen Allien and her label-mates at BPitch Control are recognized as one of the city’s most powerful creative forces. Allien got into dance music during a stay in London at the height of the acid house movement of the mid-‘90s. She took up a DJ career upon returning to Germany and it didn’t take long for her to get a foot in the door of respected clubs such as Fishlabor and the now legendary Tresor. In 1999 she founded BPitch Control, which in the ten years since has grown into a forward-thinking techno label definitive of the spirit of Berlin’s youth. She is also something of a fashion icon, releasing a well-received collection of black-and-white-themed conceptual garb for Spring Summer 2010.
The birthday tour in Japan will also take the BPitch crew to Tokyo and Nagoya, and Ellen Allien herself to sunny Okinawa–a testament to how well the label is regarded throughout Japan. Thomas Muller and Chaim make up the rest of the crew. Paris-born Muller is a producer of brooding minimal techno and his driving, hypnotic tracks such as “Ride On” have cut through Europe’s top clubs of late. Chaim, from Tel Aviv, meanwhile, has infused Chicago-esque bass grooves and synth hooks into the oft-austere world of minimal techno, and is an upcoming artist to look out for in the next few years.

The purveyor of sexy minimaL house unleashes his groove on Kobe
 Pokerflat Records, founded by Steve Bug, has grown into one of the hottest labels in dance music. It is synonymous with sexy, low-slung minimal techno and house and features a who’s-who artist roster including John Tejada, Donnacha Costello, Aril Brikha, D’Julz and Martin Buttrich.
Bug began DJing in a small after-hours bar in Ibiza back in ‘91. Since then, he has gone from residencies at London mega-club Fabric, Sven Vath’s Cocoon club, to sets at the world’s biggest dance festivals. He’s straddled the borders of house and techno for so long that it's fair to say he’s made the space his own, while his Bugnology series of mixes accompanies Pokerflat as definitive of minimal house. Be sure to catch his seductive DJ style at Troopcafe, where Kobe’s lovers of basslines and random bleeps will no doubt be shaking it all night.
