Inekari: Rice harvest

September and October are the best months to get making some rice balls for lunch, as the new rice harvest, Inekari, takes place.

[box]Rice harvesting is done by machine in most places, but in some parts of Japan it’s all still done the traditional way, with minimal tools. Tawa in Sayo city, Hyogo is one place where you can see the rice plants being hand cut and tied by one hard-working bunch of locals.
