BASE Island Kitchen

Base Island kitchen & 焼き菓子工房 ジャマイカ食堂
Where else but BASE could you find such a fantastic mix of Jamaican/Japanese fusion food alongside vegetarian/vegan cuisine? While this small hole in the wall may not be the best choice for large parties, for smaller groups or couples, this is a unique opportunity in Osaka to sample hearty Jamaican jerked meats, tasty salads, and various tapas, all at very reasonable prices. For meat lovers, you can try the regular jerked chicken plate served with a green salad and simple yet satisfying beans and rice. For vegetarians, the English-speaking chef will be happy to explain the variety of tapas or stuffed green peppers to accompany a large salad. Other dishes offer a mix of meat and vegetarian options. Wash it all down with beer, wine, or the hydrogen-enriched water served with the meal, making you feel full and energized.

Tabiji Kitchen

旅路 Kitchen
With a bilingual menu that quite accurately proclaims “Dishes from around world,” Tabiji Kitchen is a comfortable and friendly spot to stop for either lunch or dinner. The only trouble you’ll have here is trying to decide on which country’s food to try. The lunch menu offers minced lamb from Greece, a Vietnamese chicken sandwich, pulled pork from America, or Russian Beef Stroganoff, all for decent prices. From there, the dinner menu adds dishes from another dozen countries. The variety does no harm to the quality, with really fresh-tasting ingredients and portion sizes that are sure to fill your belly. Add a coffee or beer, or be daring and order Green Mint Soda for something more unique. Then, finish off with some housemade sweets. Tabiji Kitchen offers the rare chance to taste the culinary variety of the world while keeping your feet firmly planted in Osaka.
